TYLER DESIGNATED A 2014 SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

Tyler Elementary was named a 2014 School of Excellence by the Prince William County School Board.  This is the 8th year that Tyler has earned the coveted title.

School of Excellence is the highest recognition awarded to schools by the PWCS School Board. It signifies high levels of performance on state accreditation, Annual Measurable Objectives, and in moving toward the goals of the Division's Strategic Plan.

Congratulations to everyone who helped to earn this important indicator of student success.

All Aboard With Reading!
Tyler's traditional reading challenge will begin on Monday, December 1st and will end on Thursday, December 18th. If Tyler Tomcat students reach the goal of 50,000 minutes, we will celebrate by having a school wide Polar Express day on December 19th!

CONGRATULATIONS TO TYLER'S ROBOTICS TEAM
On Saturday, November 22nd, Tyler's Robotics Team did an outstanding job at the Virginia Regional First Lego League Robotics Competition.  They earned 1st place for Robot Design and are alternates for the state competition on December 6th and 7th at James Madison University.  Way to go Tomcats!
BOOSTERTHON NEXT STEPS

Wow!  Friday's Fun Run was incredible.  Our rock stars ran their little hearts out and had fun doing it.  Please help your student get in touch with their sponsors. Sponsors can pay three ways - Cash, Check, or Credit Card online.

If an e-mail address was entered with the original pledge on www.funrun.com, your sponsor will receive a pledge link to pay directly by credit card if they so choose. If not, they can mail cash or check to you and you can send it all in at once with your child’s collection envelope. That envelope went home Friday with a reminder letter highlighting what’s outstanding. You can also log on to www.funrun.com for all the information you may need.

Pledging is still open! Students may continue to log pledges on to www.funrun.com to help our school! Prizes will be distributed on Tuesday, Nov 25.
Breakfast with Santa and Silent Auction
Come join the fun at Tyler Elementary on Saturday, December 6th from 9AM-11AM!  The Tyler PTO will be hosting Breakfast with Santa.  Preorder your tickets now (Click HERE for order form) for unlimited breakfast, crafts, and pictures with Santa.  There will also be the popular silent auction held during the event. We need your help to gather the items for the silent auction baskets.  Click HERE for each classroom's assigned theme.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
All registrations will be done by appointment only.  If you have a new student to register, please call 703.754.7181 prior to visiting Tyler to schedule an appointment.  Appointments are necessary in order to comply with new student health protection requirements.  Click HERE for more information.
Congratulations to our Newest Safety Patrols
Tyler held its induction ceremony for our Safety Patrols on Wednesday, October 8th.  Safety Patrols are selected based on their strong academic standing, ability to consistently demonstrate the 6 pillars of character, as well as leadership skills.  Congratulations to our 5th grade students selected for this prestigious position!  The Safety Patrols are sponsored by Senora McGraw, Tyler's Spanish teacher.
International Walk To School Day
Tyler Elementary participated in International Walk to School Day.  While we are not a traditional walking school, we were able to build in some activities to celebrate the day.  THANK YOU to the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue - Station 4 for supporting our event!
SAFETY ALERT
Don't Let Removal of Haymarket Overpass Threaten Student Safety
Closing of the Old Carolina/Jefferson Street overpass (September 21) eliminates a popular student pathway. But Route 15 is no place for pedestrians and cyclists. Urge students to stay safe and avoid this crowded and dangerous route when not in motorized vehicles.
Target Takes Charge of Education!
Tyler Elementary has received $2,292.66 to date from Target for their Take Charge of Education  program!  Thanks to all of our parents who link their debit/credit card to Tyler (School ID: 104455) and earn us FREE MONEY!
